Fernandez Office Headshots 68When we make crowns for patients, it only takes one visit! Bridges completed in our office can often be delivered the same day as well. Dr. Fernandez has been using CEREC® technology (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) since 2006 to make crowns and many bridges, inlays, onlays and veneers out of ceramic material that matches the natural color of your tooth.

HOW DOES CEREC® TECHNOLOGY WORK?

The CEREC® system uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology. The CEREC® acquisition unit houses a camera and medical grade computer. It is mobile and Dr. Fernandez or Dr. Cox uses the unit to take a digital picture of your prepared tooth while you are in the chair. This picture is used instead of an impression. No more gagging with traditional impressions and no more plastic temporary crowns that fall off!

The CEREC® 3D software converts the image to a 3D virtual model of your prepared tooth. Dr. Fernandez or Dr. Cox uses CAD technology to design the restoration while you watch on the screen. This design is sent via a wireless radio signal to the CEREC® Milling Unit where CAM technology creates the restoration while you wait.

The final step is bonding the restoration to the surface of the damaged tooth. The result is a life-like, natural restoration, made and delivered to you in one visit, while you wait. The entire process generally takes 1½ - 2 hours. In and out and on with your busy life!
